The £54M state of the art five storey building brings together up to 300 biomedical researchers from across the School of Life and Warwick Medical School to fight human diseases.
89nr DELTABEAM® Composite Beams were supplied to the scheme and the project is unique in that it contains the heaviest DELTABEAM® Composite Beams ever used in the UK. Transfer beams were required over the clear double storey height lecture theatre.
PCE & their design team due to the ceiling hight wanted a prop free solution which DELTABEAM® provided. The beams were highly loaded, and this resulted in the D70-900 beams being in excess of 18T each. Safety was important with temporary edge protection barriers being installed before installation.
The frame was constructed in 22 weeks with just 18 multi-skilled operatives, DELTABEAM® along with column shoes & anchor bolts played a major part in his along with meeting the clients target of 50 percent pre-manufactured value.
The building has won several awards including, 2021 Construction News Project of the Year, 2021 Property Awards-Sustainability Award, 2021 Offsite Awards – Best Use of Concrete Technology and 2021 Green Building Project of the Year Award.
